Dad speak

Do you ever listen to what I am telling you? Clean the ear wax out of your ears.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Dad speak

Sometimes I wonder if you and I are from the same planet.

Dad speak

Do you think we have a money tree in the back yard?

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Dad speak

Being a parent is like being a police officer. I have to make sure you are not breaking the law.

Rant 1231

Non-revenue generating departments beware ... you are expected to do even more with even less. Better yet, that is not an excuse for being unable to meet expectations.

Humidity

You know it is going to be one of those days when the humidity curls your boxer briefs into a wedgie.

That voice

In the middle of the night, that voice you hear. It is not your stomach. Not your dream. It is your pain in the ass cat wanting something.

Project, Dad and time

In the middle of a project at work and there was a presence. It was him. Yes, Dad was checking in.

Squeaky

On the freeway of life, a stop at a service center may just be the way to fix that squeaky wheel.

Sunday, June 1, 2014

Works in progress

We really are works in progress. There are some days where we don't think so. We just need to believe and keep moving forward.

Axe the axe

Why must people carry an axe to grind? It looks awful with just about every outfit.

Thursday, May 22, 2014

The survivor

I must remember to not let the guilt trip take me down. I am a survivor. Life goes on and the memories will carry me until we meet again.

Figuring it out

Some where, some way I will figure it all out. I must remember to relax and let it sink in.

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Impatient

They say grieving the death of a loved one takes time ... I'm impatient.

Think, stupid

The taste of shoe in my mouth will not go away.It is the price you pay for not thinking before saying. Can't blame this one on my mental illness. Nope. Just a real ass munch I am, and will always be. Selfish bastard. That is all.

Home delivery

Those things delivered to my parent's house included: hospital bed, wheel chair and portable commode. Later an ambulance brought Dad home.

Go figure

If you figure it all out, please keep it to yourself. I'd like to solve the equation.

Saturday, April 19, 2014

About doctors ...

The thing I like about doctors is they can fix you.

The thing I don't like about doctors ... they think they can fix you when you are past being fixed.

I  have seen it from both sides.

Mom's cold pizza

Last weekend, I gave Mom some left over pizza from a Saturday night meal at a favorite old hangout.

Tiny hope

I hear the weakness in his voice over the phone, but there is also a slight chuckle. He enjoys being asked if he is breaking out of the joint.

Grass clippings

My first mowing of the lawn for 2014 took place in Indiana this year, at the home of my parents.

A chance to help out as Mom takes care of Dad.

After work

I got a call this morning from Mom.

In His time

Things happening in God's time are tough to grasp.

A person who brought you into the world is dying. He is wasting away ... he calls on the Lord. He tells God he is ready to come home. But God has not granted his request.

This is where the word "why" pops up.

Why the wait? Why all the pain and suffering? Why? Please, tell me why.

There is an answer. It will come in His time.

Faith, hope and love, and the greatest is love.

Love my father and Our Father.

Will I let it grow my faith deeper? Why not?

It is His time. Not mine.

Thinking ...

Is there really such a thing as thinking outside the box during a litter box visit?

Monday, April 7, 2014

Agonizing death

Slow, agonizing deaths don't make sense when it is someone who taught you how to be a decent human.

Friday, April 4, 2014

The look

The only way to defeat "the look" is to bounce it back at the person shooting it at you.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

You are here

There is that time in a day when you think ... what the hell am I doing here.

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Much better, thank you

It would be in your best interest not to talk about any raise you may have been awarded for taking on other responsibilities in front of other co-workers.

The size of your world

Your big world has been drastically reduced.

You no longer can get in your car and drive to the American Legion Post to meet up with the rest of the members of the honor guard.

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Remember them

If you have a free second tonight or tomorrow ... remember those in need .. fighting for their lives, searching for strength, faith, a new job, an answer, a moment with someone they care very much for, a roof over their heads, nourishment, breaking away from a danger habit, reconnecting with family and friends, trying to make sense of this silly world ...

It's not so simple ... but every second adds up ...

thanks

Life's wrecks

Putin a good neighbor?

If Vladimir Putin was your neighbor, do you think he would return stuff he borrows from you? Or would he add it to his collection?

So asinine

There comes a time when all the asinine things come together and make total sense.
