It's the eve of Thanksgiving Day.

Leaving work, I was blessed with the end of a warm sunset.

It was a soothing way to end the work day.

All was quiet on the Wednesday watch.

The afternoon was a time of reading and enriching.

Except, I received a present.

My youngest daughter, Courtney, called.

She was at her job and had a break. She wanted to see what was cooking for Thanksgiving.

Courtney has a very busy life.

Communications between us comes every now and then. In no way is that a thing that upsets the old man.

The birds (Courtney and older daughter, Meghann) left the nest a long time ago.

They have lives to live. With computers and mobile phones, you can be in touch with a loved one at any time.

Courtney had to change her plans a few months ago.

Now she teaches 3-year-old students at a preschool.

As she told me, she is learning to do many things on her own. Paying bills at the top of the list.

College is on hold for a year or two.

One thing not on hold is her love for God and for others.

Hearing her voice today for 14 minutes and 39 seconds during a phone call was a gift.

It was a reminder of being thankful for the little things.

And two big things I am thankful for are Meghann and Courtney.

Always, girls, you are in my heart. Always.

Love you bunches.
